01 / PRODUCT RANGE

Three profiles. Different architectural possibilities.

Start with the blade shape, then resolve depth, spacing and support. Our sun, box and aerofoil louver families provide distinct starting points for exterior shading and architectural screening.

CZ132 / 85R

Sun Louvers

Choose between two blade formats: the deeper CZ132 profile and the slim 85R curved profile.

CZ132: 89 W × 132 H mm. 85R: 85 W × 15 H mm.

Compare blade depth and spacing against the shading angle and facade rhythm.

RECTANGULAR PROFILES

Box Louvers

Rectangular sections create pronounced lines and a consistent geometric language across the elevation.

Catalog examples: 25 W × 50 H to 50 W × 200 H mm; GMS L-carrier connection.

Match the visible face, projection and carrier arrangement to the facade detail.

Vertical aluminum louver fins on a curved building facade03

6063-T6 ALUMINUM

Aerofoil Louvers

An elliptical blade profile offers a different edge and shadow expression from a rectangular box section.

Catalog examples: 100 × 15 to 450 × 60 mm; section-specific wall thicknesses.

Compare section depth, blade orientation and support spacing together.

02 / TECHNICAL COMPARISON

Specify the section before the finish.

Dimensions below are catalog references in millimetres. Each profile has its own section and wall thickness; confirm the selected configuration against the order drawing.

Supplied length is not the permitted unsupported span. Wind load, deflection, connection details and support spacing require project-specific engineering. Do not combine the largest dimensions and thinnest wall into a new section.

03 / LIGHT & GEOMETRY

Good shading starts with the sun path.

Blade shape alone does not determine shading performance. Orientation, depth, pitch and inclination work together with the glazing and the local sun path.

Conceptual geometry only. Validate the project’s sun path and structure.

Blade spacing and viewing angle influence screening and light.
01

Read the elevation

Establish facade orientation, window geometry and the hours when direct sun causes glare or unwanted solar gain. Low-angle east and west sun needs different consideration from higher-angle sun.

02

Balance shade and outlook

Deeper blades, closer spacing and different inclinations change the view and light admitted. Review the shading mask and sightlines together before fixing the blade layout.

03

Resolve the support

Define the span, substructure and fixing positions alongside the visual layout. Review site wind loads, thermal movement, drainage and material compatibility at connections.

04 / FROM INTENT TO DETAIL

Keep the design intent through procurement.

Blade geometry gives a facade its rhythm.

A profile looks right, but the support is unresolved.

Use the selected section, wall thickness and mounting detail as one specification. The Box Louver range includes a GMS L-carrier reference to support that discussion.

The facade palette changes between materials.

Compare powder coating, PE, PVDF and anodizing alongside the adjoining metalwork. Approve a physical finish sample for color, gloss and texture before confirming production.

A general product name leaves too much open.

Identify CZ132, 85R, a particular box section or a particular aerofoil section. Record length, finish and connection requirements so the quotation describes the intended assembly.

05 / MATERIAL & FINISH

One facade language, from blade to surface.

Aluminum louver profiles can be coordinated with the project’s cladding, frames and other visible metalwork. Select the treatment for the actual exposure and appearance requirements, rather than from a finish name alone.

Powder coating

Consider color, gloss and the specified exterior coating system.

PE coating

Confirm suitability for the project’s environment and durability requirements.

PVDF coating

Define the coating system and project acceptance criteria in the specification.

Anodizing

Review the alloy, appearance and approved sample for the selected profile.

The Sun Louver catalog lists RAL 9016 and RAL 9010 white, with other colors available by agreement. Finish availability is subject to the selected profile. No coating life or coastal suitability is implied without the applicable specification.

07 / SPECIFIER’S GUIDE

Questions to settle before you order.

Rectangular aluminum louver blade assembly
Review the complete blade and support arrangement.
How do I choose between sun, box and aerofoil louvers?

Compare the required blade silhouette, projection and connection arrangement first. CZ132 and 85R are identified Sun Louver formats, Box Louvers use rectangular sections, and Aerofoil Louvers use elliptical sections. Then assess the actual shading mask, span and finish against the selected section rather than choosing only by appearance.

Should the blades run horizontally or vertically?

Use the building orientation and sun-path study to decide. Horizontal arrangements are often considered for higher-angle sun, while vertical fins can help address side-on, lower-angle exposure. Neither arrangement guarantees a result on its own: depth, spacing, inclination and glazing geometry must be evaluated together.

Are catalog lengths also allowable spans?

No. A 6,000 mm supplied blade does not establish a 6,000 mm clear span. Allowable support spacing depends on section stiffness, wall thickness, fixing design, deflection criteria and local wind loading. Have the project engineer verify the complete arrangement.

Are architectural sun louvers the same as rain-resistant ventilation louvers?

They serve different specification purposes. Solar shading is evaluated around sun control and facade geometry; ventilation louvers require airflow and pressure-drop assessment and, where needed, tested rain resistance. Do not treat these shading profiles as a rated weather-louver system without relevant data.

Can these profiles be specified as a motorized pergola roof?

The three families shown here are architectural louver profiles. A motorized roof also requires an engineered frame, drive mechanism, controls and drainage strategy. Those components and a watertight roof assembly are not established by the profile specifications on this page.

What should a project enquiry include?

Send the destination, facade elevation or sketch, preferred profile, approximate quantity, required finish and any known loading or support constraints. Ask for confirmation of the section drawing, mounting scope, sample requirements and quotation terms. This makes the technical and commercial review specific to your project.
